Home…

our happy place.  Traditions, warmth and welcome.

Home is a feeling. It radiates fond memories of countless holidays, birthdays, milestone celebrations and after school projects.  It’s also simply seeing the beauty in the everyday.  It’s where your stories are written, the place where you belong.

Each season brings with it celebrations, holidays, weather – all playing a vital role as to how we live and play.  So many can relate to the feeling of cold weather coming upon us in Autumn.  Long cooked winter meals, football and a crackling hearth.  Shortened days, the rustle of leaves, the scent of candles burning inside a jack-o-lantern.  The sounds, smells and tastes that all come together to create a feeling.  This is your home, your good life.

I would like to share with you my ways to make each day a celebration, make the ordinary extraordinary, and how to be organized and efficient and enjoy living for the moment.

I extend my invitation to you to come inside and experience home…Welcome!

Month to Month Inspiration

August 2021

I’m finding it difficult to wrap my head around the fact that August has arrived. I’ll admit, I’ve never been a big fan of this month for various reasons, the most primary one being that it feels as though people tend to dismiss this last lovely month of summer to go headlong rushing into that other ‘F’ word. You know the one…Fall. The second reason is the almost constant barage through media and advertising announcing and shouting “back to school!” Once again, confirming that dreaded feeling of the beginning of the end! Not to worry here my friends. I’m firmly keeping my feet planted in Summer. Typically this can be our hottest month, plus I still had snow in April! So I’m going to enjoy every last bit. This is our month for serious harvest here in the Northeast. My kitchen potager is producing tomatoes faster than we can consume them – again – not complaining! I’ve been busy harvesting and drying herbs (read about that in my Garden section), making my seasoned vinegars and oils and clipping gorgeous flowers for arrangements all over the house. Whereas I used to dread August, I’m having one of my bests ones ever, only because I’m not succombing to the hype of moving along to the next season and living in the present. Fall and all it’s glory will get it’s time to shine, but for now it’s summer and I’m loving it and I hope you are too.
