Vermont Alpine Style

Vermont just seems to naturally lend itself towards the holidays.  Anyone can envision the quintessential red barns covered in blankets of white, large open spaces and of course the beautiful mountains.  Alpine style is ageless and so homespun.  Here are some photos for your inspiration.

Woodsy Themed Outdoor Christmas Decor

Our home in Vermont has a rustic natural feel, so I like to bring in elements like pine cones and berries when putting together the outdoor urns and such.

I usually just go into the surrounding woods and trim pine branches of various types and yews as well with their lighter green and more delicate texture.  There are endless possibilities when using natural materials.  Here I also used tall branches for extra height.  Look for birch branches with their beautiful white papery bark.

A more glamorous thanksgiving table display using neutral colors

I like to ‘dress’ my dining room to suit the seasons.  I always embrace the typical fall colors, but I opted for neutrals in this setting.  I found these spectacular silver turkeys at an estate sale and they set the tone.  Surrounded by whites and other soft neutrals with autumnal motifs this becomes a beautiful fall display.

A Very Glamorous Fireplace Mantle using Winter Whites

My fireplace mantle in the living room is quite large and calls for some pretty dramatic decor for big impact.  I love using the collection of winter whites and silvers here.  The use of lots of elements and textures is what makes this display work.  I hope this gives you inspiration for your home as well!

Autumn Wreath

I am one who is partial to layers and excess when it comes to fall decorating.  I say pile on those pumpkins and gourds, fill with lots of colorful dried leaves, raffia, acorns, etc.  This wreath is made entirely of silk and dried leaves, berries and fillers and faux mini pumpkins and gourds.  Why put this outside on the front door – hang above a fireplace and fill the mantel as well for a spectacular fall display.

Another Fall Tablescape

Here is another idea for some great fall impact in your décor.  The wooden box container and the abundance of pinecones allow for the easy transition into the holidays as well.  I love the pops of color with the berries.  Try this one down the length of your kitchen or dining room table.

Christmas through the house

Christmas is a time for decorating with wild abandon!  With craft stores carrying so many relatively inexpensive items it is easy to get cought in a decorating frenzy.  I love bows and I feel that they can give anything that extra touch.  As the calendar gets closer and closer to Christmas, many stores begin marking down their items, this is when I load up on spools of ribbon for the next year.  You can never have too much.  Try tying a large bow on the base of a cake stand or dangling from an overhead light fixture with many curly strands hanging down – festive!
